What's with science?

For the last 10 years, I have mistakenly remembered that the bugs with the coffin-shaped backs were classified as hymenoptera. But just now a bug came in, and I googled him, and it turns out that those bugs are called hemiptera.

Here is another thing I learned, which is kind of messed up. BITING lice are classified as Mallophaga, but SUCKING lice are classified as Siphunculata.

BUT, mantises and roaches are both classified as
Dictyoptera.
