I'll bet when you read the title, you thought that I was being sarcastic like (sarcastic voice) oh, thank you thieves, thanks for stealing all my stuff. I loooove losing my wallet, phone, ipod and passport in one go.
Actually, about halfway through the coffee I was drinking this morning, I thought (peaceful voice) thank you thieves. Dan had dropped me off at the social security office, and I was waiting. I only had the ten dollars he'd given me before I left, and there was nothing I could do but walk around not listening to my ipod or text messaging anyone. I didn't have money, a train pass or even keys to go home. I thought thoughts. I read the paper.
I never, NEVER would have done this unless I had been rendered totally helpless by the theft. And you know what? There is nothing more valuable, or nice, than time.
